Words like "democracy," "fairness," "equity," and "empathy" are used so frequently, we rarely pause to consider what they mean. With our "Words Matter" course, your children will do just that!

Words Matter

Better understand the power of words!

In this engaging course for students in middle school and above, we will use a mixture of direct instruction and the Socratic method, to explore the origins, meanings, and modern uses (and misuses) of words we hear every day—like 'fair,' 'rights,' 'empathy,' and ‘democracy.’

This course will prepare students to be skeptical, thoughtful consumers of mass media, as well as more precise and thoughtful in their writing and conversations about difficult topics!

Separate class times for middle and high school students.

Logic is a vital skill that must be learned, but that acts as an inoculation against bad ideas taking root in your child's mind. Cogito Learning Center Logic courses can help.
