Welcome to Cogito’s tutoring services. To ensure a smooth, productive, and professional experience for all families, please review the following policies. These apply to all tutoring services except college essay coaching. Visit this page for more information about college essay coaching policies.

Hourly Rate

• All tutoring sessions are billed at a flat rate of $80/hour.

• This rate is fixed and non-negotiable.

• Payment is due at the time of each session unless otherwise arranged.

Session Format

• All sessions are conducted online via video conferencing.

• Students are expected to arrive on time and be fully prepared with all necessary materials.

Technology & Environment Requirements

To maintain session quality and protect your investment of time and money, the following are required:

• Students are responsible for ensuring they have functioning technology (computer, webcam, microphone, and stable internet connection).

• If a student misses a session due to poor internet, device issues, or attempts to attend via phone or while away from home, the full session fee will still be charged.

• We do not recommend tutoring via phone, and we do not conduct sessions with students who are riding in cars or in transit.

• Students must be in a quiet, distraction-free environment and have a way to take notes (digital or paper).

Communication Policy

All communication must be handled through Tutorbird.

• Even if you have a tutor’s direct phone number or email, please do not use them.

• Text messages, emails, or phone calls outside of Tutorbird will go unanswered.

• This policy ensures organized and efficient communication for all parties.

Scheduling & Cancellations

• All sessions must be scheduled in advance through Tutorbird.

• Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling.

• Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged in full.

Student Expectations

• Students are responsible for attending sessions on time and coming prepared.

• Tutors will guide and support the learning process, but consistent effort and responsibility from the student are essential to success.
