Thank you for considering Cogito’s college essay coaching services. Please review the following policies to ensure a smooth, productive experience.

Hourly Rate

• Coaching sessions are billed at $80/hour.

• Payment is due at the time of each session unless otherwise arranged.

Typical Timeline

• Most students require approximately 8 sessions to complete all essays for a standard college application packet.

• This may vary depending on essay complexity and the number of schools applied to.

Essay Review Policy

• All essay review and feedback are conducted during live sessions.

• Cogito tutors do not edit essays. Students are responsible for all revisions and edits based on feedback received.

• This approach ensures that the student’s voice remains central and authentic.

Lesson Prep Sessions (Optional)

• Students may request optional “lesson prep” time for offline review at a reduced rate of $35/hour.

• The student does not need to be present, but must:

  • Submit a request via Tutorbird at least 48 hours in advance of the next session.

  • Include any essays and specific areas of focus.

Scheduling & Communication

• All communication and scheduling must go through Tutorbird.

• Even if you have a coach’s phone number or email, please do not contact them directly. All outside messages (texts, emails, calls) will go unanswered.

Cancellation Policy

• Please give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a session.

• Late cancellations or no-shows may be charged the full session rate.
